Charlotte’s Web | Nursery

My daughter Charlotte is already 1 year and I haven’t yet posted pictures of her nursery!  I really enjoyed the process of designing her room when I was pregnant (especially because it was a really hideous workout room before hand!).

For this space, I sewed (bumpers, crib skirt, pillows), painted (the walls, bulletin boards & mirror), and drew (I drew the framed silhouettes freehand).  This all made it feel really custom and personal, which is what I love most about design.

It’s still a work in progress, as most spaces are, but here are the photos that many have been asking for!  Let me know what you think!

Storage is a MUST in kid’s rooms, so I got this cart on casters from CB2, and added colorful baskets that hold toys & blankets.  On the right, I painted and stenciled 3 bulletin boards which now display a collage of pictures of Charlotte with family and friends. The mirrored dresser is from Z Gallerie, and I changed out the knobs to glass knobs from Restoration Hardware.

The room’s palate was inspired by the fabric that I found at Cowtan & Tout.  It’s what I used to make the bumpers (center) and it just felt fun, bright and cheery – which is Charlotte’s personality to a T!  I made the back side of the pillows out of the same gingham fabric as the crib skirt to tie those two parts of the room together.  On this lamp, I used a hot glue gun to adhere a decorative ribbon around the base of the shade.

I free-handed these silhouettes from images that I saw in a storefront here in Noe Valley. I then matted and framed them, for what I think is a really cool, vintage look.  I also spray painted the mirror in the room a vibrant purple -it had been white, and was just getting washed out with all of the other colors in the room.

This little love seat is great – Charlotte cuddles up with us before bed to read books here, and it’s so cozy.  I have her books displayed on a shelf from West Elm, and the mirrored side table is from Pier 1.  I just changed out the knob to a glass knob from Restoration Hardware.  The center picture is of a beautiful butterfly mobile that hangs in the center of the room (a gift from a dear friend).   I love having that as a centerpiece instead of a chandelier – Charlotte really enjoys looking at it and seeing how it moves.

I hope you like her room!  If you have any questions or ideas, leave a comment! Oh, and here’s a picture of the little lady herself :)

I just found out I am 6 weeks pregnant and looking for nursery themes. My all time favorite cartoon is Charlotte’s Web, and googled ideas which is how I came to your visit your site.

You have a taste for class! Love the organization which is most appealing of all as I am averse to clutter. Beautiful room! You are very talented.
